I have been crating and making product for over 20 years out of various craft mediums like Chocolate making, cake decorating, soap moulding, candle making, polymer clay, plaster of paris and lots more. My biggest challenge has been that there are so few moulds that are available and if I want to make something unique I am stuck. I would usually resort to hand sculptor or in some instances lasercut outs can help. Every time a client asks me to add their logo to a product it’s a 3 week struggle to figure out the best way to incorporate their design onto a candle soap or cake!
I have been playing with silicone moulds for a while now as they are this fabulous new add on into the crafting industry and they really brought in some new designs and aspects to crafting. But I’m still stuck with how I will create a new and unique item. How do I put the corporate logo onto my products?
For the longest time I have been wanting to just make my own stuff and not do what everyone else does.
So I took the leap of faith and created my own moulds!!! Its relatively easy once you know how and the best part is you soap mould can now be used for candles, cement and all the other crafts you do. You not stuck with a soap mould for soap and one for candles and another for cement…
The silicone is inert which means you can wash it and use it for the next thing without fear of contamination.
Although I would make it my choice not to mix the food product moulds and other crafts in the same mould… if you did it would work!! Because of the flexibility of the silicone you can use the same one mould for various crafts!! This really adds a dimension to crafting that is making home business professional and lucrative!
The challenge… how do I learn everything there is to know?
Well, you will need time lots of time, lots of trial and error and a lot of money!
