A beginner-friendly introduction to sewing

Learn to sew at the Upcycle Sewing Centre, run in partnership with Crafty Corner, and build your skills step by step under the guidance of Vivian. Because each course builds steadily from class to class, you have time to practise every technique and come back with questions, so the skills actually stick. Every process sample you make is kept in a portfolio provided as part of the course, so you can look back on your progress and use it as a reference for future projects.

Beginner Sewing Course

A beginner-friendly introduction to sewing, covering:

• Basic sewing principles and how to use a sewing machine
• Simple processes, including seaming, corners and curves, hemming, tacking, gathering, pleating, zips, bias, buttonholes, and decorative, straight and zigzag stitching
• A miniature pillowcase, so you can practise your new skills on a small project first
• A simple item of your own, such as an apron or a cushion cover

Duration: 8 classes, 3 hours each
Cost: R2500
Suitable for: Beginners, no sewing experience needed
