Candle Making Workshop | Crafty Corner
Candles are one of the oldest crafts around, and people have been making them since the days of the Romans. Beeswax and tallow were the main ingredients until the 1850s, when candle makers discovered that paraffin wax could be produced from petrol, coal or wood, and traditionally, makers built up a candle by dipping a wick into melted tallow again and again. In this workshop, you’ll get hands-on with the techniques that grew out of that history, and you’ll leave with a candle you made yourself.

- Mastering wax melting and moulding techniques, so you build a real, practical foundation
- Handling candle making equipment with confidence
- Selecting and working with wicks, waxes and additives for different candle variations
- Exploring and designing custom candle moulds
- Adding fragrance and colour to enhance your candle’s look and feel
- Working safely, plus time-saving tips and other handy insights
- Crafting diverse candle types, including container candles, moulded candles, hand-dipped tapers, speciality candles and those with special effects
- In-depth troubleshooting, so you know what to do when something doesn’t go to plan
- Designing accessories and finishing touches that elevate your candle
- Personalising colour by blending your own custom mixtures

Cost: R1200 per person
