With Valentines Day just around the corner, what better way to show your Mom you care on Valentines Day than by giving her a beautiful, handmade Valentines gift you have made yourself. Follow our easy step by step instructions and we will show you how to make a beautiful Valentines gift using easy beading techniques!
It is a good idea to read through all the instructions first before starting this Valentines Day craft. Show your special Valentine just how much you love them, by taking the time out to create something very special and personal for them to wear.
Gather all of your required items and tools for the project – lay them all out in front of you, sit down, sort your materials and get ready to create!
The very first thing you want do is try to arrange your beads in a length, that you find pleasing. Planning your key ring is half the fun, so play around with different coloured beads and different sizes until you find a pattern that you like.
We wanted to have two "tails" at the end of our key ring, so we decorated two head pins. This is how we decorated ours, but feel free to come up with your own designs and patterns.
Slide the silver trinket bead on first, then a colour bead, a larger clear bead and finish with a colour bead. Then trim the wire to allow approx. 5mm and use the needle nose pliers to twist the end to create a loop.
Once you've decorated your two headpins, slip them, via their loop, onto one jump ring. To open a jump ring, hold securely with both pliers and give a gentle twist to open, slip the head pins on, and then twist the jump ring closed again.
Slide the big flower shaped bead onto the length of wire and place a clear bead in the centre of the flower when threading. This isn't really necessary, but does add some texture to the look and feel of the keyring.
Now you can thread beads both above and below the flower, until you are happy with the look of the keyring.
At the bottom end of your wire, use your pliers to twist and create a loop at the bottom of the wire.
Open a jump ring and slide it onto the loop at the bottom. Then slide the two decorated head pins on as well, and then close the jump ring to secure the head pins.
Hold the wire at the top so that the beads sit on top of each other with no gaps in between. Leave 5mm of wire sticking out the top and trim the excess. Using the needle nose pliers, twist the top end of the wire to create a loop. Attach a jump ring, and then attac your keyring to the jump ring.
Your Valentines Day keyring is now ready to be given away as a special gift!
